Belgian artist JD Davis has become a globally recognized voice in electronic music. Since the early 2000s, he has collaborated with leading DJs and producers including David Guetta (The World Is Mine, In Love with Myself), Oliver Heldens, DJs From Mars (Blue Monday), CHAB, and more recently, METODI.

Yet JD Davis is more than a vocalist – under the name Dave Davis, he began releasing trance and techno tracks in the mid-1990s, such as the hit Transfiguration. His career reflects a rare versatility: always adapting to shifting genres while preserving his artistic identity.

A career built on evolution

Reflecting on his 25 years in music, JD Davis says:

“It’s been a journey full of passion, creativity, and constant reinvention. I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with artists like David Guetta, Oliver Heldens, Steve Aoki, DJs From Mars, Kiko, Skye from Morcheeba, Akon, and many others. These projects allowed me to explore different styles, from trance and techno in my early days as Dave Davis to vocal-driven tracks later on. The secret to longevity is evolving while keeping your artistic identity intact.”

From producer to singer

His transition from producer to singer happened almost by chance:

“At the start, I couldn’t find the right vocal loops for my productions, so I decided to try it myself. That led to creating my own vocal loops, which naturally evolved into integrating my voice into the music. It allowed me to shape tracks more authentically and discover the power of combining voice with production.”

Global breakthrough with David Guetta

JD Davis rose to global prominence through his work with David Guetta:

“Working with David was incredible. Even though he was already established, he was always pushing boundaries, always innovating. Co-writing and singing on tracks like The World Is Mine was a dream come true. The studio energy was electric, and those sessions really helped shape my sound and establish me in the electronic scene.”

Reinventing a classic

One of his milestone tracks, Closer to Me with CHAB (2004), was recently reimagined with a remix by METODI on Set About Music.

“I admire METODI’s work, so the collaboration felt natural. He brought a fresh perspective to Closer to Me. It’s fascinating how a song can be reinvented while keeping its essence. This was a very rewarding project.”

What’s next for JD Davis

The artist shows no signs of slowing down:

“I have several exciting projects coming up. Soon, a collaboration with Steve Aoki and DJs From Mars will be released – something I’m really excited about. I’m also continuing to work with METODI, while developing new solo singles as JD Davis. It’s an inspiring time creatively, and there’s much more to come!”
